Pesto Pizza on a Ready Made Crust

vegetarian and Italian
Not just another pizza; a pesto pizza! We are still using up the frozen homemade basil from our garden. So we decided to buy a thin crust and make a pesto pizza. The recipe for this pizza is simple, quick and easy.

Makes:                                 1 of 12" pizza

Prep Time:                           20 minutes
Cook Time:
          Sauteing Sausage:    10 minutes
          Cooking Pizza:          8-10 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

1 of Boboli 12" thin pizza crust or equivalent
1 large hot Italian Sausage, skinned and crumbled
6 oz of pesto sauce
1/2 basket of cherry or plum tomatoes, halved
3/4 C shredded mozzarella
1/4 C grated Parmesan
8 large fresh basil leaves

PREPARATION:

1. Saute the crumbled sausage until thoroughly cooked; about 8-10 minutes.
2. Spread the pesto sauce on the pizza crust evenly.
3. Spread the tomato halves and sausage on top of the pesto.
4. Cover with shredded mozzarella cheese
5. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
6. Cook in a 450*F oven for 8-10 minutes or until cheese is melted and starting to brown.

PLATING:

For a really fresh and interesting flavor addition, place large fresh basil leaves on each piece of pizza after slicing. Serve on a warm plate.

Buona tavola,

Tom and Anita
